Sturdy and quietly beautiful, this woven basket planter has the kind of honest craftsmanship that feels increasingly hard to come by. Sitting on a solid wooden base, it has a slightly more considered look than a typical garden basket, grounded, practical, and genuinely well made. British woven basketry like this was a cottage industry staple through the mid-twentieth century, produced by skilled hands for everyday domestic use rather than decoration. This one has clearly lived a full life. The weave is intact and the wooden base is solid, with the soft, natural wear you'd expect from decades of real use, that patina is what separates it from anything made yesterday. It works beautifully holding a trailing plant, dried stems, or simply sitting on a shelf doing very little.
