A Windsor armchair with a pierced central splat and swept arms that somehow manages to feel both sculptural and genuinely comfortable. The saddle seat carries a natural dip worn smooth over decades of use, and the turned legs and stretcher speak to the kind of joinery that simply doesn't get made anymore.

Windsor chairs like this were produced across rural England throughout the 19th century, typically by specialist chair bodgers working in the Chilterns and beyond. Each component was often crafted separately then assembled, giving every example its own subtle character.

This one shows honest age throughout, a rich patina, minor surface wear, and the kind of marks that confirm its history rather than diminish it. It sits beautifully in a reading corner, beside a writing desk, or anchoring a casual dining space.
