A cheese dome that actually makes you want to use it, the Corndolly pattern by Taunton Vale has a quiet, countryside confidence that earns its place on any table. Taunton Vale was a celebrated English ironstone maker, and the Corndolly design reflects the rural folk traditions popular in mid-Victorian England. The rope and rattan-style surface detailing is beautifully worked, with a rope-twist handle on the dome that feels both purposeful and considered. The glaze shows fine age crazing throughout, honest evidence of a long life, and there is a small chip on the base plate worth noting. It sits naturally on a kitchen counter or dining table, equally at home beside a wedge of cheese or a cake.
