Long before gin took over cocktail menus, there was genever, the Dutch original, and this heavy salt-glazed stoneware bottle is the real thing. It would have sat behind a bar or on a merchant's shelf, doing honest work in a serious drinking era.

Dutch potters had been perfecting this style of salt-glazed stoneware for centuries, producing vessels built for function as much as trade. Bottles like this moved genever across Europe and beyond, carried by merchants who valued durability over decoration.

The grey stoneware body is solid and satisfying in the hand, with surface wear and a natural patina that speak to genuine age and use.

Display it on a bar cart, a kitchen shelf, or alongside antique ceramics, and it earns its place immediately.
