Copper kettles like this one were the workhorses of the late Victorian kitchen, but that doesn't mean they skimped on the details. Made somewhere between 1880 and 1910, this one has the kind of honest craftsmanship that was standard before things got mass-produced and forgettable. The swinging brass handle is a lovely touch, practical in its design but warm in the way it catches the light.

The copper has developed a rich, lived-in patina over the decades, the kind you simply can't fake or rush. There's a natural warmth to it that makes it just as at home on a kitchen shelf or beside a fireplace as it would have been in its original setting.

A genuinely useful antique that also happens to look beautiful doing nothing at all.
