Jelly moulds rarely arrive with a story this good. This fluted porcelain piece carries the Le Cordon Bleu mark alongside a proud little lion, a detail that hints at the Victorian love of kitchenware that was as much about theatre as it was about pudding.

Almost certainly made by Shelley in England, it dates to the mid-1920s, when decorative moulds were a genuine point of pride on the well-dressed table. Shelley was known for quality porcelain, and the crisp, well-formed fluting here reflects that reputation.

There are two small nibbles to the rim, honest wear for a piece that has been well used. Display it on a dresser or shelf alongside transferware and earthenware for a collected, lived-in feel.
