Those half-timbered facades along the River Stour have drawn artists for generations, and John Lewis Stant knew exactly why. Stant (1885–1964) spent his career documenting England's most characterful architecture, and the Old Weavers' Houses made a worthy subject.
Built in the late 16th century to house Flemish and Huguenot refugees, these buildings carry a history that gives the scene real weight. That comes through in the print.
Pencil signed in the lower margin. The patina is soft and honest, exactly what you'd expect from something this age. Hang it in a study or hallway, or alongside maps and botanicals, and it will earn its place.
