Why We Started Stone & Relic

Brand story, the UK sourcing vision, and why British antiques

There is a moment, somewhere between your third cup of tea and your fourth antiques market of the morning, when something shifts. You stop just browsing. You start seeing things differently. You look at a battered pine dresser sitting in the corner of a draughty barn in rural England and you think: someone is going to love this.

That feeling is what started Stone & Relic.

We are a small, family-run business importing hand-sourced British antiques and vintage pine furniture to the United States. Every piece we carry has been found by hand, packed with care, and shipped across the Atlantic because we genuinely believe it deserves a new home.

The idea came from a simple observation: the kind of furniture that fills antiques markets and farmhouses across the UK is almost impossible to find here in the States, and when you do find something similar, it carries a price tag that bears no resemblance to what it actually cost to make. We wanted to change that. We wanted to bring the real thing directly to people who appreciate it.

British pine furniture has a character that is hard to describe until you have stood in front of a piece that is 150 years old and still completely solid. It was built to last. It was built to be used. It was not built to be trendy, and that is exactly why it has outlasted every trend that has come and gone around it.

We source everything ourselves. That means our trips involve early mornings, muddy boots, and a lot of driving down roads that were not designed with anything larger than a horse in mind. It also means that when a piece arrives in our inventory, we know its story. We know where it came from. We know what it took to get it here.

Stone & Relic is named for the two things we love most: the stone walls and cobbled streets of the English countryside, and the relics of everyday life that the people who built that world left behind. We think those things belong together, and we think they belong in homes that will appreciate them.

We are glad you found us. We think you are going to like it here.
